And there is a chair
And there is a chair is a letter, a choreography, a musical composition, and a dance within your own imagination. The material is the result of Mirte Bogaert's own form of translation work. Based on a letter that serves as a poem, a script and a music score, she has developed and put together movements, rhythms, lights and sounds that through the performance are translated into new expressions and articulations. The various elements are paraphrased and adjusted and they enter into dialogue with each other, allowing for new dimensions to be revealed. The performance takes place in an empty space where something of the past moulds into something new, both in the moment here and now and as a potential for the future. And there is a chair demonstrates how events within the theatre space reach beyond time and space, and invites the audience to form their own versions and impressions of what they are seeing and experiencing.
And There Is A Chair is developed and performed by Mirte Bogaert, based on work conducted at Research Studios at P.A.R.T.S. 2017-2018.
